Enough of Kevin Ware & Big 2B Options to Avoid
Congrats to Louisville and of course, Kevin Ware, who seemingly overcame the entire Persian army, Goliath and hordes of zombies just to make it back alongside his teammates on the bench. Kidding aside, it was a gruesome injury, and I am happy for the kid... but come on people, he’s getting more attention than Manti Te’o girlfriend... or, wait...
Matt Kemp, LAD – And for that fact, Ryan Braun and Carlos Gonzalez too, if we’re talking strictly outfield. Find a way to get these guys in your lineup (more on how in a bit). They are some of the highest priced options, but Kemp is 12-for-24 with two HRs and a 1.081 OPS when facing Clayton Richard, Braun is 6-for-17 with a 1.118 OPS against Travis Wood and CarGo is 12-for-39 with two HRs, seven RBI and a 1.027 OPS versus Tim Lincecum.
Ruben Tejada, NYM (John Buck) – Saving those dollars! Tejada is 6-for-13 lifetime against Cliff Lee. Will he yank one? Nope. But Tejada will cost you just $2,600 on DraktKings and $3,100 on FanDuel. Buck meanwhile, is pricy on FD, but still valuable at $3,000 on DK and is 14-for-48 with three HRs against Lee (.912 OPS).
John Jay, STL – Saving some more! Jay is just $3,500 DK and $3,600 FD, but is 10-for-25 against Bronson Arroyo with four extra base hits. Jay also has a hit in every game but one so far.
Paul Konerko, CHW – Konerko isn’t a terrible price at $3,400 on FD, but at DK ($4,500) he is, and is a terrible play overall. Facing Gio Gonzalez, Konerko is just 1-for-12 (.083 AVG).
Jhonny Peralta, DET – There are a few more quick hits today, as there were just too many poor plays not to include them all. Peralta is 0-for-10 against Brandon Morrow. Simple as that. No matter his price, don’t bother.
Ian Kinsler, TEX – Kinsler is a bigger name and bigger price ($4,800 DK/4,300 FD), but someone you don’t want on your team. He’s facing Roberto Hernandez who Kinsler is 2-for-17 with six Ks against – that’s former Fausto Carmona for those wondering where the history of at-bats comes from.
Howie Kendrick, LAA – Another big name with a pretty big price ($3,600 DK/$4,100 FD). And yet, another name to avoid. Kendrick is 1-for-12 against Jarrod Parker. I don’t think you need more details on this one.
Cliff Lee, PHI – As great of a pitcher as he is, Lee does not do well against the current crop of Mets hitters. Six players hit .286 or better against Lee with 18 RBI between them. Lee has the ability to dominate anyone, any day – even hitters who do well against him. However, Lee is the highest-priced pitcher on both sites ($9,500 FD and $11,900 on DK). There is no reason to spend the big money.
