I’ll be Yelling too if the Tigers are Rained Out!
Had the highest score in the Expert Bracket Draft Day Challenge (barely) to move on to the Final Four! I am praying to my dear Lord that Detroit isn’t rained out! Miggy and Peralta, I need you guys!
Let’s deal ‘em up!
J.P. Arencibia, TOR – Hope I don’t jinx the man, as he’s on fire. Arencibia already has eight homers and is 6-for-12 with two double and a homer against Hideki Kuroda. He’s simply too hot to sit.
Billy Butler, KC – You can’t explain it, but Butler is 21-for-53 with four doubles and two homers against Justin Verlander. That’s right, Mr. Cy Young winning Verlander can’t get Butler out (often).
Jhonny Perlata, DET – The man owns James Shields – no two ways about it. He’s 10-for-22 with a double and three HRs against him. That’s right; Peralta has THREE dingers against Shields.
Vernon Wells. NYY – The second biggest bat behind Robinson Cano right now for the Yanx, Wells is 23-for-47 lifetime against Mark Buehrle with a .489 AVG and 1.264 OPS.
Ben Zobrist, TB – Small sample size, but it just feels good to mention him back-to-back. Zobrist is 4-for-5 with a double against Chris Sale, who can dominate. But, given Zobrist’s cost on most sites due to his recent slump, he’s worth the gamble.
Garrett Richards, LAA – The pitching costs are through the roof today. If you only start one, you may be able to squeeze in a Chris Sale or Gio Gonzalez type. However, there is no way you’re getting two without sacrificing hitting big time. Richards flashed his minor league strikeout ability against Detroit, and against the Mariners (Brandon Maurer on the mound), he’s a good bet to get a win.
Alex Gordon, KC – Hey may look tempting with four doubles and two homers against Justin Verlander. But, those came in 47 at-bats where he also struck out 17 times! Verlander can dominant all too easily to risk this.
Kevin Youkilis, NYY – Youk is having a rebound season, but he’ll struggle to keep things going against Mark Buehrle. Youkilis only has four hits in 22 at-bats against Buehrle, and that’s also how many strikeouts he has. That’s definitely not a good thing! Another day Youk, another day.
Adam LaRoche, WSH – LaRoche just can’t hit Bronson Arroyo. Lifetime, he’s 5-for-29 with five Ks. Yep, another guy with just as many strikeouts as hits. Just like Youk, move along.
Michael Cuddyer, COL – A season favorite of mine, it pains me to say you want no part of him today. Cuddyer is already just 2-for-18 against Trevor Cahill. He’s not worth his nice price today.
