It’s Nice to Recommend Ben Zobrist Again
Good day, not great in the first round of the Expert Bracket Draft Day Challenge. The rain-outs of the White Sox and Royals really screwed up my lineup plans! It looks as though the weather should hold across the board today... fingers crossed.
Let’s deal ‘em up!
Jose Quintana, CWS – Prepare yourself for some repeats. Quintana was an “added deal” yesterday, but thanks to this ridiculous weather, the game was postponed. Quintana has dominated his past two starts with 14 Ks and zero ER in 13.2 IP. One of which was against this same Cleveland squad. At $5,300 FanDuel dollars, he’s too valuable to pass up.
Rickie Weeks, MLW – Weeks vs. Edison Volquez: winner, Weeks. He’s 6-for-14 with a double and two homers against Volquez. Weeks’ OPS in this matchup is 1.484. At $3,300, he’s a must-own, even at $4,400 on DraftKings.
Adrian Beltre, TEX – Another hitter who completely owns his matchup is Beltre. Against Jerome Williams, Beltre is 8-for-17 with a 1.180 OPS. Plus, Beltre is actually a decent price at $3,800 FD.
Nelson Cruz, TEX – Cruz is another repeat, and he one-ups his teammate here. In his history against Williams, Cruz is 9-for-15 with a double and three homers. That’s an astounding 1.892 OPS. Still at $3,500, you’d be nuts not to own him today.
Ben Zobrist, TB – I’m glad I can hype Zobrist today. After all, I’ve rarely used him this season, and he’s been a Rag quite a few times – a large part due to cost. Today is different, though! Zobrist is 7-for-19 with two homers against Andy Pettitte. Zobrist will cost just $3,600 in the OF on FD and $4,500 DK.
Salvador Perez, KC – One more repeat because of the postponements, Perez is back. Just look back to yesterday… but, if you’re too lazy, I’ll give it to you again: Perez is 5-for-7 with a double and two HRs against Wade Davis. Plus, he’s just $2,500 FD! (basically, a cut-and-paste).
Other Good Deals – Freddie Freeman $4,200 FD, Jimmy Rollins $3,500 FD, Daniel Murphy $3,800 DK, Jean Segura $3,900 DK, Marlon Byrd $2,800 DK
Joey Votto, CIN – Big name, little production. Votto is just 1-for-11 with three Ks against Jeff Samardzija. Votto is talented enough to win battles where he has a poor history, but in daily fantasy, there is no need to take the risk with the price Votto will cost.
Matt Wieters, BAL – Against Brandon Morrow, Wieters is a pitiful 2-for-18 with five Ks. There is no reason to have him on your squad.
Mike Moustakas, KC – Not only can Moose not get out of his own way this year (.158 AVG), he is just 1-for-14 lifetime against Max Schezer. Easy math here.
Howie Kendrick, LAA – I hate having less options for which to choose from a thin 2B position, but you cannot plug in Kendrick today. He has never gotten a hit off Yu Darvish (0-for-12) and has struck out five times.
