Load Up on Stars like Evan Longoria Today
The NBA Playoffs are underway! That means we only have about five more months of basketball. We’re here to talk baseball, thankfully, and boy, are there a bevy of tempting choices today. There are so many appealing matchups for hitters that I have a who’s-who of hitters in my DraftKings lineup. But let’s get to helping you with the best bets and flops for Monday.
Let’s deal ‘em up!
Evan Longoria, TB – If there is one name you must find a way to get in your lineup, it’s Longoria. Facing CC Sabathia is a problem for most, but not Longo, as he is 14-for-39 with three doubles, five homers, nine RBI and 10 walks to just three strikeouts. That’s good for a 1.321 OPS and must-start option at a thin 3B position.
Jose Bautista, TOR – Joey Bats doesn’t have the largest history against Chris Tillman, but it’s a great one. Bautista is 4-for-9 with a double and two homers. That’s good for a 1.333 SLG%, wow! He also has a hit in five straight games with two HRs, meaning it looks like Bautista is getting on track.
Howie Kendrick, LAA – Kendrick, like Longo, is at a thin position with few options. The good news is that Kendrick is at a good price ($3,200 FanDuel and $4,100 DraftKings) and is 14-for-41 with eight extra base hits (two HRs) and 10 RBI. That’s tons of production for not much cost. It doesn’t stop there, as Albert Pujols and Mike Trout both have great records against Derek Holland… psst, don’t start Holland!
Starlin Castro, CHC – More good options at thin positions! Castro is 11-for-28 (.393 AVG) against Mike Leake, and the game is in Cincy. Added to that, he’ll only cost you $3,200 FD/$4,600 DK. Anthony Rizzo is another solid option at 4-for-5 against Leake.
Ryan Braun, MLW – It’s the day for big names when it comes to hitting. Braun faces Jason Marquis who he is 11-for-22 with five doubles against. Guaranteed production baby!
Miguel Olivo, MIA – Olivo certainly isn’t tearing things up this season: .227 AVG, one double, one home run and seven Ks. But, he does like facing Kevin Correia, as he’s 6-for-10 with two doubles and a HR in the matchup. At $2,000 DK, there are few cheaper. Although, on FD, I can’t figure out how Buster Posey is cheaper!
Juan Pierre, MIA – Olivo’s teammate, Juan Pierre, has a larger history against Correia with nearly the same success: 8-for-19 for a .421 AVG. He’ll cost you just $2,800 on FD.
Other Good Deals – Shelby Miller $6,400 FD, Ryan Howard $3,100, Kyle Lohse $5,000 DK
Ben Zobrist, TB – Zobrist continues to be one of the most expensive 2B options where he is eligible there, and he isn’t worth the money today. Sabathia can’t handle Longo, but he certainly can with Zobrist at 14-for-58 with 18 Ks in their history.
Paul Goldschmidt, ARZ – Ryan Volgelsong doesn’t have the most over-powering stuff, but it looks that way against Goldy. Over his career, Goldschmidt is just 2-for-12 with four Ks. Don’t waste your cash.
Alfonso Soriano, CHC – Possibly the worst play of the day, Soriano is just 2-for-18 with four Ks against Mike Leake. Ignore the fact that the game is in Cincy. Soriano will be lucky to get on base, let alone take one deep.
