The Rock Loses, but Alexi Ogando Will Bring a Win
Who else was rooting for Wichita State to reach the NCAA Tournament Finals? It’s fun to root for the underdog. Outside of that and a mostly entertaining baseball weekend, The Rock lost to John Cena (ugh) at Wrestlemania, while The Undertaker’s streak stayed alive, Triple H wasn’t forced to retire and a bunch of other sweaty, over-acting men did stuff. With a new week on tap, let’s deal it up.
Alexi Ogando, TEX –Ogando dominated the Astros in his season debut, and now he faces the almost-as-weak hitting Rays. The Rays already have a negative-eight run differential through six games while the Rangers sit at plus-six. Ogando can rack up the strikeouts easily, even if he doesn’t go deep and at just $6,600 in FanDuel, you must use him.
J.J. Hardy, BAL – It’s not the biggest sample size, but Hardy owns the matchup with Clay Buchholz. Hardy is 6-for-13 with two homers, good for a 1.423 OPS. Hardy is just $3,400 on FD allowing you to spend big elsewhere.
Joe Mauer, MIN – Big name, little price. Mauer is only $3,400 on FD, tied for 13th overall with Evan Gattis and Miguel Olivo. Add to that, Mauer is 12-for-26 with seven RBI and a 1.231 OPS against Ervin Santana.
Pair of Rags
Nick Markakis, BAL – You want no part of Markakis today, I don’t care what his price is, anywhere. Markakis faces Buchholz and is just 4-for-31 with a .419 OPS against him (.129 AVG). Again, even if Markakis were $2,000, you’d still be wasting money.
Michael Bourn, CLE – All Bourn really does is provide steals. Well, today, that’s unlikely. Bourn is just 5-for-26 against Hideki Kuroda with just one steal. After all, it’s tough to steal bases when you can even reach base. Bourn is $3,900 on FD and $4,400 on DraftKings, giving you more reason to look elsewhere.
David Wright, NYM (John Buck) – Wright is one of the best third base options, but not today. Wright struggles mightily against Roy Halladay with a 4-for-24 showing with 12 Ks. His teammate Buck, who has been hot to start the year, also can’t find a groove against Halladay with a 4-for-22 lifetime showing and seven Ks. Avoid both at $4,400 FD/$4,500 DK for Wright and $3,800 FD/$3,000 DK for Buck.
