Things Will be Looking Way Up if You Have Griffin Tonight
What a blah night of baseball for the daily game... well, mostly. I say mostly because there were many players I liked in the Mets-Rockies matchup, which was snowed out! At least my continual push for Joe Mauer to be in all lineups while he’s still so cheap paid off big as he went 4-for-5 with two Runs, three RBI and a HR. Oh, and how happy am I that I missed on Erik Bedard in waivers for many rotisserie leagues?! Wow. Okay, let’s deal ‘em up!
A.J. Griffin, OAK – Only Carlos Pena has faced Griffin before, but let’s face it, you’re not worrying over Pena when a pitcher faces Houston. The game is in Oakland and Griffin has a sparkling 1.93 ERA and 1.07 WHIP in his first two starts (both wins).
Tavis Hafner, NYY – The one Yankee I like today is Pronk. Hafner is 6-for-15 against Brandon McCarthy with two HRs and seven RBI. He carries a 1.367 OPS against McCarthy and has struck out as many times as he’s walked (three). Hafner is a great play and value versus McCarthy.
Jean Segura, MIL – How is this guy’s price not higher yet? Segura is still just $3,400 in FanDuel AND DraftKings. Say whaaa?! Are the sites not paying attention to Segura’s .417 AVG or the fact that he has a hit in every game but one... with five multi-hit games? Seriously, I want to know.
Jose Tabata, PIT – Sometimes you have to take gambles, and looking at Tabata’s .222 AVG and .278 SLG%, you would have to say, Tabata is a big gamble. However, he’s also 9-for-21 with two doubles, two HRs and eight RBI against Jake Westbrook. That’s a .579 AVG and 1.600 OPS! Hopefully, tonight will spark life into Tabata.
Other Good Deals – Jay Bruce $3,900 FD, Gerald Laird $2,500 FD/$3,100 DK, Placido Polanco $3,300 FD, Austin Jackson $3,800 FD, Chris Davis $4,300 FD
Robinson Cano, Kevin Youkilis, NYY – Two of the bigger names for the Yankees can’t hit McCarthy for the life of them. Cano is 1-for-9 and Youk is 1-for-14. Stay away.
Adam Dunn, CHW – You might be thinking Dunn versus a righty means there is promise. Not so fast my friend. Dunn is just 4-for-24 with 12 Ks against Josh Johnson. Just because JJ hasn’t looked great, it doesn’t mean you ignore those numbers.
Andre Ethier, LAD – Ethier isn’t off to a terrible start, even though his production is lacking with just two Runs and three RBI, but he’s hitting .279 at least. That’s going to drop today as Ehtier is just 3-for-26 against Jason Marquis (.115 AVG). Heck, he might even sit this one out.
