If You Want Kobe To Be A Good Guy, Just Call Him An Asshole

Every day, Around the Horn posts some web extras of some of the more interesting interactions that took place among Tony Reali and the panelists while they weren't actually taping the show. We're glad they do this, because it's not uncommon for this stuff to be more fun to watch than what actually makes it on the air. Thanks to a story about Kobe Bryant and a lot of assholes, today was one of those days.
J.A. Adande relayed the tale. The story's roots lie in how Kobe (shockingly!) doesn't like getting asked by reporters about other players' defense on him. In fact, we don't think he's not a fan of being asked about opposing players in general. So he gave a typical Kobe response, which resulted in him getting called an asshole, which in turn sparked a chain reaction of asshole-calling the next day, which somehow ended in Adande deciding Kobe deserved a trolling. But just when he thought he figured out the perfect way to do it...
Kobe often seems like an asshole, and not without reason. He's an insane competitor, not entirely unlike Jordan before him, and Jordan could be quite the legendary asshole. But that competitiveness means Kobe's always looking for a way to beat you. And what was the best way to get back at Adande? Not by being a dick right back to him... but defying his expectations. Kobe wins. And if we were Adande, all we'd have been able to think after Kobe delivered his little parting shot was: what a brilliant asshole.
