For A Brief Time Yesterday, Brent Musburger Was Feared Missing In Las Vegas
Brent Musburger had somewhere to be yesterday: from 4-5 p.m., he was all set to appear on ESPN Radio at the Palms in Las Vegas to benefit The Caring Place, a nonprofit that helps people whose lives are affected by cancer. Good cause, with one problem - well into that 4-5 time slot, he was nowhere to be found. Molly Sullivan, one of the broadcasters at the event, tweeted that Musburger wasn't around when he was scheduled to be, which struck Fox's Lisa Horne as strange.
Apparently, Musburger's not one to miss an appointment, which doesn't surprise us since you're probably not sticking around the broadcasting world for decades unless you're good at being where you need to be, when you need to be there. But yesterday, he...wasn't, and people started getting worried. ESPN Radio couldn't get Musburger by phone. Sullivan couldn't either. What happened to this guy? Luckily, Horne was able to contact him, and found out that luckily, unexplained disappearances don't always have a worrisome backstory:
"Oh….no," Musburger exclaimed. "I thought it was tomorrow. Can I still do the show? I am so sorry."
He couldn't still do the show, as it turned out, but since it was clearly an honest, and rare, mistake, he was easily forgiven. (Oh, and people worrying something terrible happened to him also might have had something to do with them not really caring that he missed a radio spot.) Either way, Brent's fine, so your 2011 college football season will still feature a heaping helping of Musburger (and maybe even Tostitos) - provided, of course, there aren't any incidents like this one.
