This Photo Is Proof We Can Go Crazy Over Soccer Players Right Here In The Good Ol’ U.S. Of A
Sure, we have our moments in America when soccer fandom shines. Sure, we can get engrossed in the game if it comes with a compelling storyline. But our moments are just those - moments. Soccer isn't an ongoing, all-consuming national obsession here. When it comes to obsession with the beautiful game, for better or worse, most of the rest of the world has us beat.
But make no mistake - we can still go plenty crazy over this sport, and those who play it. As proof, we offer you the photo above, via Josh Elliott. That's David Beckham and Thierry Henry, right outside Elliott's stomping grounds at Good Morning America. As you can see, those players had the interest of a full throng of enthusiastic fans - so much that it looks like Heidi Klum passed by practically unseen. And this all went down in the U.S. of A, dammit.
What's more, Beckham and Henry aren't even in the primes of their careers anymore. If Lionel Messi had been out there, he might have caused a riot. Of course, that's one which in which we'd rather not see the U.S. catch up to the rest of the world in soccer fandom.
