Drunken Member Of US Ski Team Pees On Little Girl During JetBlue Flight
Sometimes at SportsGrid, we use snarky headlines to highlight a story's wackier components. Other times, a story's details are already so outrageous, that no such highlighting is necessary. The case of the drunken US Ski Team member who peed on an 11-year-old girl during JetBlue flight 166 would fall into that latter category.
Meet Robert "Sandy" Vietze, an 18-year-old member of the USA's Olympic ski team who may not be a member of that team for much longer. Vietze decided to get completely loaded before his red-eye flight from Portland to New York City on Wednesday, and consumed eight alcoholic beverages before boarding.
That's what led to this:
Soon after takeoff, Vietze stumbled from his seat five rows behind the child and emptied his bladder onto the girl, who was briefly left alone while her dad and sister were in restrooms.
"I was drunk, and I did not realize I was pissing on her leg," the 6-foot-4, 195-pound Vietze later told cops, according to law-enforcement sources.
One other thing you should know: the girl's father is a Stage 4 cancer patient. He came back from the bathroom just in time to catch Vietze in the act, or, as the New York Post tastefully puts it, he "caught Vietze midstream and tried to wipe him out."
Dad was understandably irate.
"F- -k that kid. I don't want him near my family!" he yelled.
Vietze slurred that he had suffered "an accident," according to another passenger.
Flight attendants had to separate the men.
Vietze was bumped from the US team's developmental roster on Thursday afternoon, and while officials refused to comment on his status, it's hard to imagine him competing at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Russia. You know, because he peed on a little girl.
