Goalie Tim Thomas Rescued The Bruins With This Amazing Overtime Save
Goalie Tim Thomas had a sensational season for the Boston Bruins, posting a 2.00 goals against average and a .938 save percentage - both league-leading figures. But he's never come up bigger all year than he did last night in preserving the Bruins' chances at a critical Game 5 win over the Montreal Canadiens in their first-round playoff series.
In the 2-1 double overtime triumph, Thomas stopped 44 of 45 shots...including a spectacular stop that could have ended the game instantly. The Canadiens' Brian Gionta had a golden scoring opportunity during the second overtime on a 2-on-1 break...but Thomas was having none of it.
A little over three minutes later, Nathan Horton won it for the Bruins. Montreal fans were sad. And Boston fans were really happy...particularly that Tim Thomas was on their side.
