Watch Herm Edwards’ Awesome Pep Talk To The Cleveland Cavaliers
Former NFL head coach, sometime Bud Light pitchman, and current ESPN analyst Herm Edwards gave a "pep talk" to the Cleveland Cavaliers this morning on SportsCenter. Although the segment itself was meant to be somewhat hokey, their were a few sources of legitimate motivation in Edwards' speech.
The Cavaliers are record-breakingly bad, having won sole ownership of the NBA record for most losses in a row after last night's 99-96 heartbreaker against the Dallas Mavericks. But, according to Edwards, it's not for lack of talent.
"You know how to play basketball, you've been doing this your whole life. If you weren't winners, you wouldn't have gotten to this level," Edwards says.
This, of course, is an outright lie. The Cavaliers have the least talented roster in the NBA, and if any team in the league were to be designated "losers" based on their lineup, it would be Cleveland. But perhaps this isn't the point.
Maybe it's the lighting, or the camera work, but for a moment you're reminded that Edwards is a damn good orator, as he fools you into thinking that the Cavs have just as good of a chance as anyone else to win on a nightly basis. And if you're a member of the historically-bad 2011 Cavaliers, it's about time you started lying to yourselves as well.
