Hulk Hogan Vs Gawker Media Trial Begins With Jury Selection, Hilarious Tweet
Back in 2012, Gawker posted a video of Hulk Hogan having sex with the wife of radio shock jock "Bubba The Love Sponge," which featured the world's most famous post-coital fart (twas literally heard round the world). Suffice it to say that the sextape was weird for a million reasons. Oh, and speaking of "millions" -- today marks the first day in court proceedings for Hogan's $100 million lawsuit against Gawker Media.
As his lawyers prepared to select a jury for the civil trial that threatens to end one of the internet's biggest, most beloved blog networks (of which Deadspin is a part of), Hogan spent the morning deciding which finishing move he was going to use in court.

Hogan claims the video -- taken in the home of the man whose wife he was sleeping with -- was recorded without his consent, which makes sense. It was security camera footage. Who the hell has a security camera in their master bedroom? The question at the core of the lawsuit, however, will not be the legality of the sextape's existence -- or how Gawker obtained it -- but whether or not they were legally allowed to publish it on their site without Hogan's consent.
Their presumed argument is simple: a video of pop culture icon Hulk Hogan having sex reveals the shallowness of celebrity culture, which they define as their mission statement (), thus protecting their right to post it under the First Amendment.
Eh, not sure about that one, because if it's ok to publish that, it'd then be ok to publish stuff like the Erin Andrews peephole video, which sent a man to prison for 28 months. Terry Bollea's gotta be feeling pretty damn good about his odds in this one.
Below is an artist's rendering of Hogan's impending legal takedown of Gizmodo, Jezebel, Deadspin, Kotaku, Gawker, Jalopnik and Lifehacker:
