In a great service to both the fields of journalism and biology, Nate Silver’s FiveThirtyEight Blog monitored a bunch of sports sites following Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals, and collected all the euphemisms for “testicles.” Of course you know that was the game in which the Warriors’ Draymond Green kicked the Thunder’s Steven Adams right in The Riverlands (something for you Game of Thrones fans out there).
Green was given a flagrant 1, later downgraded to a flagrant. He will play tonight.
The FiveThirtyEight Blog winner, by a wide margin was “groin,” followed by “Below the belt” and “Nuts.”
But there were other, more creative and colorful phrases used in the media on Sunday, and we’ve done our own research, and ranked those below. We didn;t rank by number of times used, but rather by creativity and humor. These are our favorites, and hats off to the brave reporters who used them.
