Jeanie Buss Goes On First Take To Explain What The Hell Is Going On With The Lakers
The Lakers President came on ESPN to clarify who's running the show in Los Angeles, seeing as the on-court product appears to be a mess while five different coaches have manned the helm since 2011. Her answer: Jimmy Buss.
Skip Bayless and Stephen A. Smith took turns asking Buss about the franchise's various botched moves over the last few years, like the hiring of Mike D'Anotni, Dwight Howard's sole season, not hiring Phil Jackson, and the overall inability to lure and keep free agents.
"Any free agent that would be afraid to play with Kobe," she said. "Is Probably A Loser." Eh, we'd say Kobe's looking like the loser right now, Jeanie. Might want to dial back the pro-Kobe rhetoric just a smidgen.
The takeaway from the interview was that her brother, Jimmy, has been calling the shots since her father, Dr. Buss, became ill, and he is ultimately responsible for the missed opportunities. It sounded like Jimmy didn't want Phil to usurp power from the Buss family. This is a soap opera, folks.
