Jimmy Kimmel Pranks A 6-Year-Old By Having A Pro Wrestler He Hates Show Up At His House
A month ago, WWE wrestler CM Punk made mainstream news when he went off-script and provided a worked-shoot* interview, railing on people of note in the wrestling industry from WWE Chairman Vince McMahon, to the undeserving popularity of then-champion John Cena.
(*Ed. note: a worked-shoot is an interview that is made to appear as if it was unscripted.).
Weeks later, Punk defeated Cena for the championship at the WWE's Money In The Bank Pay-Per-View, a day before his contract with the company was set to expire. Punk's victory was met by much fanfare from the WWE Universe, as older fans who were tired of Cena's kid-friendly schtick gravitated to Punk's anti-hero persona.
Last night on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Punk confronted one of Cena's young fans, Archie Iacono, the son of Kimmel producer Sal Iacono (better known as Cousin Sal). 6-year-old Archie surprisingly held his own against Punk, not backing down from his pro-Cena stance. The ballsiness of this cannot be overstated: to a 6-year-old who thinks that wrestling is real, this is one of the most dangerous men on the planet who has just entered his home.
Oh, and that scenario that Archie laid out about Rey Mysterio beating The Miz, and then Cena beating Mysterio to reclaim the vacant title? That actually played out on last night's Monday Night Raw, and guess who was there to confront the new champ. Yes, I follow this stuff. Sue me.
