Joel McHale’s Opening ESPYs Monologue
The 2015 ESPYs kicked off with a bang Wednesday night, as star of Community, Joel McHale tore into nearly everyone in the audience -- and a few who weren't.
McHale's targets included:
-Bill Cosby. [talking about UFC fighter Ronda Rousey and her dominance, McHale joked that Rousey has, "knocked out more women than Bill Cosby."]
-Manny Pacquiao/Floyd Mayweather. ["I hope you don't look back on this evening and think, 'Man, I've wasted three hours of my life with this boring nonsense.' You know, like the Mayweather/Pacquiao fight. I've seen better fights over beach chairs."]
-The Women's World Cup team. ["Team USA took home the first Women's World Cup... since we started caring about it 11 days ago! Thank you, ladies!"]
-Jason Pierre Paul. [McHale noted that Pierre-Paul was in the crowd, then the camera panned to a shot of a finger on a seat]
And this isn't even half of it. McHale got some great reaction shots out of Lindsey Vonn following a Tiger Woods infidelity joke and Peyton Manning after a Redskins dig (which McHale repeated a few times for emphasis). Throw in a few Gronk digs and NBA riffs, and the monologue was one of the best in recent ESPY memory.
