Video: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Smashes A Pumpkin For The Smashing Pumpkins. You’re Welcome.
Sharing quirky anecdotes about Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is all the rage lately, and we'd feel left out if we didn't join the party. Fortunately, we have reason to chime in: apparently, Kareem is now friends with Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan. (This doesn't appear to have much to do with Kareem's Bonaroo sojourn - the Smashing Pumpkins didn't play there this year.)
What it does have to do with: literally, smashing pumpkins. Apparently, as part of this friendship Kareem and Corgan struck up, Corgan promoted Kareem's new documentary, On the Shoulders of Giants. In return, Kareem honored Corgan's band's name in a way perhaps only he can (oh, and also promoted their album):
Quite the symbiotic relationship these two have going - I wonder if Kareem has learned to hate Stephen Malkmus yet. Then again, after the weird statue stuff and the equally-weird Scottie Pippen-Michael Jordan-LeBron James commentary, maybe it would be best for Kareem to let go of the grudges and, you know, just settle down.
