Keith Olbermann Rumor: He’s Heading Back To MSNBC
Why does Keith Olbermann keep getting new jobs? Because he's talented. Why does he keep needing to get new jobs? Because he's a pain in the ass. But I say that with love.
So anyway, Olbermann is officially out with ESPN, which is citing citing financial concerns. New York Times:
While different factors contributed to their departures, they come at a time when ESPN is coping with the impact of rising production costs and soaring rights fees. ESPN paid $7.3 billion for the college football playoff, which made its debut earlier this year, and $15.2 billion for National Football League rights. In each of the last four quarters, those big investments cut into operating profits of the cable networks division at the Walt Disney Company.
And, like other cable networks, ESPN is losing subscribers as customers leave their pay-TV providers and seek out unbundled viewing options like Netflix.
The real reason? Likely ESPN is nervous about his opinions.
The money thing is also legitimate, though, and the situation will likely continue until the new Star Wars films start making a profit. And I'm only half kidding about that. But what of Olbermann?
The latest rumor? Olbermann is heading back to MSNBC, to prop that network's flagging ratings.

MSNBC needs a shakeup going into election season, and what better time for Olbermann to butt heads with Donald Trump? As Kenny Banya would say, "Gold, Jerry! Gold!"
