Mike Golic Rips Judge Who Sentenced Stanford Swimmer Brock Turner
Fun facts: Palo Alto judge Aaron Persky, who recently handed down a light sentence on the ex-Stanford swimmer convicted of sexual assaulting a woman on the Stanford campus in 2015, was himself a captain of the Stanford Lacrosse team.
Aaron Persky, the judge in question, is up for reelection today in the California Primary -- kind of bad timing for him. There's also a petition making the rounds to recall the judge, and it has 300,000 signatures so far.
Brock Turner, 20, was sentenced to six months in jail for the assault on a 23-year-old woman after a frat party -- he was apprehended by two witnesses and held by police. The sentencing has touched off a media firestorm, with Mike Golic joining the fray this morning on ESPN's Mike & Mike.
"He was convicted of intent to commit rape, penetration of an unconscious person, and penetration of an unconscious person with a foreign object. You read that and you’re disgusted. Convicted! He was convicted of that!"
Golic continued to rant that the judge felt “a prison sentence would have a severe of impact on him, and I don’t think he’ll be a danger to others.”
“Oh do ya?” Golic yelled. "Do ya? You got that from him?"
