Ric Bucher Has Left ESPN, Adrian Wojnarowski Resists ESPN’s Wooing
Ric Bucher and ESPN parted ways over a month ago, which unfortunately means we will no longer be privy to Bucher-Popovich sideline encounters. The sad news was first reported by The Big Lead, and later confirmed by Bucher himself. Bucher has taken over as a radio host on 95.7 The Game in San Francisco.
But the bigger news is the rebuffing of ESPN by Yahoo!'s Adrian Wojnarowski. Woj is undoubtedly the NBA's top reporter at this point, usually edging out Marc Stein, Chris Broussard and other ESPNers on breaking NBA news - from trades to injures to free agent signings. So it comes as no surprise that ESPN reached out to Woj, but Woj was having none of it and has chosen to stay at Yahoo!
Because speculation is fun, we'll assume that ESPN offered more money than Yahoo! could hope to muster. Which, then, begs the question: Why not leave? Especially when you've got some beef and can capitalize on a retaliatory opportunity.
