An NBC Reporter Treats An Andrew Bynum Handicap Parking “Investigation” Like It’s Watergate
When a Los Angeles city official caught Andrew Bynum illegally parking in not one, but two handicap spots, the Lakers center caught an understandable amount of flack. Bynum, being a pro athlete and all, is obviously able-bodied, and his parking in a handicap spot is, well, something an asshole would do.
But while the criticism is deserved, NBC Los Angeles reporter Joel Grover would have you believe that someone was murdered. Here's how he drummed up that night's "investigative report" before it hit the air.
“Famous celebrity caught on camera allegedly breaking the law. I’ve got the pictures. Finishing my research, hoping to break story tomorrow.”
Sports Superstar slams car door in my face, as I try to get comment on his alleged lawbreaking. Hoping to break this story within hours.
The actual piece that NBC LA ran essentially consisted of pictures of Bynum's BMW parked across two handicap parking spaces, and then an (unintentionally) hilarious scene where the sub-six-foot Grover confronts the 7-foot Bynum, only to get a car door shut in his face. Scandal!
