Heathens At NBC Edit Out “Under God” From Pledge Of Allegiance During U.S. Open

During yesterday's U.S. Open, NBC aired an attempt at a patriotic promo honoring golf's national championship, which was being held in the nation's capital. In order to supe up the patriotism they used the Pledge of Allegiance as background music. This would have gone off without a hitch, had they not omitted certain parts of it.
Both the phrases "one nation" and "under God" were left out of the montage, which featured schoolchildren reciting the pledge, interspersed with images of soliders carrying flags and shots of DC. Naturally, people were angry.
This prompted an on-air apology from NBC color commentator Dan Hicks.
“We began our coverage of this final round just about three hours ago, and when we did it was our intent to begin the coverage of this U.S. Open championship with a feature that captured the patriotism of our national championship being held in our nation’s capital for the third time. Regrettably, a portion of the Pledge of Allegiance that was in that feature was edited out. It was not done to upset anyone, and we’d like to apologize to those of you who were offended by it.”
