Watch Brian Kilmeade Semi-Apologize For His Domestic Abuse 'Joke' On Fox & Friends

In an ill-advised attempt to bring levity to a segment about domestic abuse on Fox & Friends' yesterday, Brian Kilmeade said that the lesson from the Ray Rice situation (and that Jay-Z/Solange fight video) was to "take the stairs."
Obviously, that was not the lesson. That was a terrible joke. Kilmeade took about 10 seconds during this morning's show to address the firestorm that resulted from his flippant comment.
Meanwhile, comments that we made during this story yesterday made some people feel like we were taking this situation too lightly. We are not. We were not. Domestic abuse is a very serious issue to us, I can assure you.
Two things wrong with this one, Kilmeade:
One, it was not comments "we" made. It was a comment you made, off-the-cuff, which showed a shocking lack of respect for the victims of these crimes.
Two, sandwiching this in as a segue between stories is almost as bad as not saying anything. Also, issuing a non-apology apology is also almost as bad as not saying anything. So, overall, this wasn't very good.
Here's a suggestion: Next time, just do what normal people do and apologize for your words and actions.
