We Wouldn’t Recommend Running From The Police In Dubai
The call them the boy racers, and they're common in the oil-rich, tax-free middle east emirates such as Kuwait, Qatar, and most notably Dubai, where late-night Tokyo Drifting has been going on for several years. Kids younger than 21 with loads of cash equal expensive supercars, and they love to race them on the streets.
So the cops, in an effort to keep up, are spending big dirhams as well -- battling the speeders with modified cars of their own. The Dubai police have recently gone all in, however, adding one of these to its fleet: a Lamborghini Aventador.
Sheriff Buford T. Justice: "Woof!"
Top speed: 217 mph. Cost: $550,000. Engine: 6.5 L L539 V12. Purpose: Pretty much for show, probably.
