Best PAT Ever: Kick Nails Ref In Face, Goes Through Uprights
There's been an epidemic of referee abuse lately in high school football, much of it occurring in Texas. In one incident earlier this month near San Antonio, a ref was targeted and hit intentionally by two players on the same play.
But here in El Paso, the ref abuse is a touch more comical, and also very inadvertent. On Friday, Midland Lee High kicker Luis Aranda was attempting an extra point vs. El Paso El Dorado High, and kicked the ball too low. But the ball nailed a ref right in the head ... and caromed upward, hitting the crossbar and going through the uprights.
Extra point is: Good.
Midland Lee won the game, 35-16.
And here's the obligatory local TV sports guy employing the "Doink!" sound effect during his play-by-play.
