Conan’s Chris Christie ‘Hostage-Face’ Sketch Is Gold, But Christie Himself Denies Any Trump Regrets
When I wrote a blog for NBC Sports a few years ago, the corporate toadies in New York banned any of us from writing about Conan O'Brien, who was just starting his new show on TBS. Couldn't mention him. It was of course a sore subject for the Evil Empire, who had booted O'Brien in a Jay Leno coup -- one of the slimiest moves in media entertainment history.
Thank God that's over, because O'Brien is one of the best late night hosts ever. Here's some evidence, as O'Brien discusses Chris Christie's hostage-face situation during the Donald Trump endorsement press conference on Super Tuesday. When Andy Richter slid in behind the host and did his best Christie take, the whole sketch just took on an Emmy-glow. I couldn't stop laughing when O'Brien said, with Richter staring over his shoulder: "He probably at one time thought it would be good for his career. Little did he know it would take him nowhere."
Christie held his own press conference today, where he denied that he was "in a hostage situation" with Trump, or that he regretted what he had done. But he made no attempt to explain his dazed, quizzical expressions, however.
