Conor McGregor Lives Up To His Word, Ends Chad Mendes
July 12 / Jake O'Donnell / SportsGrid
After spending much of the first and nearly all of the second round on his back, dodging (but mostly not dodging) Chad Mendes' elbows, Conor McGregor saw an opportunity to pop off the ground and return to using his ridiculous reach advantage flinging kicks and combination punches, as he did at fight's onset. With 30 seconds left in the second round, a bloodied McGregor delivered some very labored-looking kicks to an absolutely gassed CHad Mendes, culminating in a left hand to the chin that sent the American into the fetal position.
A few obligatory punches, the ref stepped in, ended the fight and voila, Conor McGregor is now your interim UFC featherweight champion and the most famous fighter in UFC history. That simple.
