Cowherd’s Mind Blown In Real-Time Watching Esports
Colin Cowherd famously took on the general concept of "eSports" back in April when the network he was working for at the time aired their first professional video game tournament on ESPN 2. Judging by his reaction, we're willing to guess he's not a huge fan of Heroes of the Storm...
"HERE’S WHAT’S GOING TO GET ME OFF THE AIR. IF I AM EVER FORCED TO COVER GUYS PLAYING VIDEO GAMES, I WILL RETIRE. AND MOVE TO A RURAL FISHING VILLAGE AND SELL BAIT. YOU WANT ME OUT? DEMAND VIDEO GAME TOURNAMENTS ON ESPN BECAUSE THAT’S WHAT APPEARED ON ESPN 2 YESTERDAY…"
"I TOLERATED DONKEY KONG, OKAY? I’LL TELL YOU WHAT THAT WAS THE EQUIVALENT THERE, OF ME PUTTING A GUN IN MY MOUTH AND HAVING TO LISTEN TO THAT."
Friday on his new Fox Sports 1 show -- which was bounced over to FS2 to accommodate a NASCAR practice event, ironically -- Cowherd doubled down on his stance that playing a video game does not an athlete make. Prompted by Wednesday's news that TBS has plans to host and broadcast "Counter-Strike" tournaments, the gaming community's archnemesis watched a clip from an insane "Marvel Vs. Capcom" championship match.
He reacts to the footage like a protohuman observing an eclipse.
