Gary Busey Rides Horse Onto Kimmel Show To Announce He’ll Be On ‘Dancing With Stars’
The latest cast of miscreants, pseudo-celebrities and showbiz cannon fodder has been announced for Dancing With The Stars, with the biggest surprise for me being that there is still a Dancing With The Stars. I honestly had no idea the show was still a thing.
The second-biggest surprise: Gary Busey will be a contestant. He announced this on Tuesday night by riding a horse onstage on Jimmy Kimmel Live. I will watch all of the episodes until he is the first one eliminated, with great interest. The show starts on Sept. 14.
Some contestants had already been announced for the show's 21st season -- Andy Grammer, Chaka Khan, Victor Espinoza, Bindy Irwin -- but ABC saved Busey for a big reveal. It was never explained why he was on a horse, wearing a cowboy outfit. Busey, to Kimmel:
“I am so proud to be here with you, to announce this incredible, mile-changing thing.”
Forget it, he's rolling.
When Kimmel asked why Busey decided now was the time to join Dancing with the Stars, the actor replied, “I didn’t have anything else to do.” Busey then rode his horse off the stage.
Also in the cast will be American Pharaoh, who ... no wait. Sorry. American Pharaoh jockey Espinoza will be in the cast, which just goes to show that winning the Triple Crown is not the career-transforming glittering gem that it's cracked up to be.
The full cast:
Paula Deen (Yep)
Alek Skarlatos (French train hero)
