Hey Kids! Pee Wee Herman Is Back With A New Movie, And Here’s The Trailer
Fun fact: Paul Reubens didn't invent the Pee Wee Herman character by himself -- it was a co-creation with friend Phil Hartman when the two performed for the Chicago improv ground The Groudlings, in the 1970s. Reubens wanted to try it as a stand-up comedy act, but because he had trouble remembering jokes, he just improvised on stage -- creating the blusterous man-child we know today.
But after two films and a pioneering children's TV show in the 1980s and early '90s, Pee Wee has mostly been away ... until now. Here in the age of the new X-Files and new Star Wars and Deadwood movies, we have another throwback: Pee Wee's Big Holiday, which debuts March 18 on Netflix.
The very long trailer, which should get a spoiler alert because it seems like it's pretty much the entire movie:
Don't know about you, but seeing the very upbeat, child-like Pee Wee flipping burgers at a restaurant gives a very SpongeBob SquarePants vibe -- although the cartoon more than likely borrowed much from Pee Wee.
And does anyone else find it somewhat creepy that he hasn't seemed to have aged?
