Kid Bets A Puppy On Hole-In-One, Gets It
In order to teach your children about the pitfalls of gambling, parents are wont to concoct unwinnable scenarios whereby a child's desire for a reward distorts the more reasonable side of their brain. "If you get a hole-in-one, I'll get you a puppy," a dad might tell his 11-year-old daughter, the assumption being that she would not get a hole-in-one (because that's exceedingly difficult) and, in turn, the dad would get a chance to impart some wisdom about sports betting.
Except when she makes it, you not only have to buy her a puppy -- you also have to deal with the lifetime gambling addict you've just created. The risk goes both ways, we guess. No one said parenting was easy.
