Liam Thomas Leaves Body Parts On Field, Is Toughest Athlete You Know
The event is the ICC Academy Dubai invitational T20 tournament -- that's cricket. And the athlete is Liam Thomas of the England Physical Disabilities team. During their game with Pakistan last week, Thomas made a diving stop and accomplished the baseball equivalent of holding a hitter to a single on a ball hit into the gap.
Only the degree of difficulty was much greater than with any baseball player, because Thomas left behind a body part during the play.
Yep, his prosthetic league fell off. So he literally hopped up and went to retrieve the ball with one leg. And now it's going viral and people are going nuts. Rightly so, I reckon.

And now, cricket stuff which I will not even attempt to translate:
Unfortunately, Thomas's efforts were in vain as England lost the final by three wickets.
In a tense encounter, Pakistan chased down England's 137 to win the title with just four balls to spare.

So remember, when Joe Buck hits you with overwrought superlatives and hyperbole about this athlete or that during Game 6 of the World Series, none of it will come close to measuring up to this. This week, cricket > baseball/football.
