Miss New Zealand Attempts Haka Dance At Miss World Competition And It Doesn’t Go Well
This past weekend may have been enough to finally kill off the beauty pageant. You know about the Steve Harvey fiasco, but a day earlier this happened.
Miss New Zealand, Deborah Lambie, participated in the Miss World Pageant in China on Saturday, and decided that the Haka Dance would be her performance for the talent portion of the show. She was so proud of it that she posted it on Facebook, and that's when things got heated. Well, let's take a look.
Lambie got roasted on Facebook for the dance, which was called "embarrassing", "Incredibly uncomfortable" and "not taught properly."
I'm no expert, but I'm not sure I've ever seen this dace done solo.
And indeed, according to many Facebook commenters, the Haka is traditionally meant to be performed only by men. Women have specific roles, such as singers in the background. Women also have their own versions of the Haka, but this isn't it.
