No. 1 Florida Brings Owl To A Possum Fight, Loses To LSU In Longest-Ever SEC Playoff Game
The game lasted more than five hours and extended into the 16th inning, but LSU prevailed 5-3 over No. 1 Florida in the SEC Playoffs Wednesday night thanks to an amazing double play, some timely hitting and, of course, Rally Possum.
It was back on May 7 when the Tigers were in extra innings with Arkansas, and a possum got loose on the field at Baton Rouge's Alex Box Stadium. The critter was eventually captured and later released in the woods, but not before being credited with LSU's comeback 10-9 win in 10 innings.
The Tigers, who were 3-5 over their previous eight games, were suddenly imbued with the proportional strength and fierceness of a possum. They went on a nine-game winning streak, and are now 12-1 since Rally Possum made his debut -- including two straight wins in the SEC Tournament. LSU meets 2nd-seeded Mississippi State tonight in at Hoover, Ala.
Meanwhile, LSU has gone possum crazy -- producing t-shirts, hats and even stuffed toys with the Rally Possum theme.

On Wednesday night, LSU escaped a bases-loaded, nobody out situation in the 11th with the help of this double play:

Rally caps also help.

Florida tried to counter with Rally Owl, and for a while it was a standoff.

But an LSU player adding a mustache to Rally Possum (lead photo above) appeared to turn the tide.
