Taiwanese Animators Vs. Rio Olympics Pollution: This Quite Frankly Should Win A Nobel Prize
Rio de Janiero's waterways are so heavily polluted that some nations are hesitant to send their Olympic athletes to compete in boating events. The USOC has said that athletes should stay home if they aren't comfortable with the pollution danger, but Brazilian authorities have been saying that it will all be cleaned up in time for the Games.
Now they're backtracking, saying sorry, but there's no time and no budget to clean up the water.
Some athletes have come away sick following trial competitions in the boating events, and the Associated Press did a study in December in which it determined that Rio's waterways contain pollutants that are 1.7 million times worse than what would alarm people in the U.S.
But that's just a lot of boring talk and numbers to the folks at Taiwanese Animation. Why lull people to sleep when you can get the same point across by depicting a group of people projectile pooping? They've really outdone themselves here -- and in the process, perhaps have saved thousands of lives.
Excerpt: "Not only is the water filled with crap, it's teaming with bacteria and viral pathogens." Those are some of my favorite words in the same sentence.
Hopefully this will be nominated for a Nobel Prize.
