THIS IS NOT A JOKE: SportsGrid Now Has A TV Debate Show
THE SPORTS GRID ON-DEMAND:
Clips: How Soon Until NBA Teams Have Ads On Uniforms?
Episode 1: Cam Vs Brady, Curry Vs Jordan, Bills Fans, LeBron's Nike Deal, Pitchers Cashing In, Die Hard Christmas
Successfully or not, humans have debated one another over the course of human history in the interest of solving problems and ultimately improving our quality of life on our silly little planet. This has never been the case when the topic being debate revolves around "sports." Those arguments are for entertainment purposes only. They're fun. That's why we watch sports -- so we can have irrational opinions about stuff that doesn't really matter. Don't agree? Ask yourself this: is the world a better place because Stephen A. Smith and Skip Bayless scream at each other weekdays from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. EST?
Of course not -- but it's sure as hell fun to watch.
That's why we decided to build a multi-million dollar television studio designed specifically so that two people could trade outlandish opinions in front of a camera for your viewing pleasure. Oh, and in case you're wondering, those two people are SportsGrid managing editor and New York sports fan Jake O'Donnell, and Boston-native staff writer Tanya Ray Fox. The concept? Jake and Tanya argue over where a given sports topic belongs on our proprietary "Sports Grid" -- a matrix comprised of hot takes instead of, like, numbers (or whatever normally goes on a grid). "Dumb" and "smart" fall on the y-axis, while "more please" and "go away" are on opposite sides of the x-axis. You remember how graphs work, right? Ok, good.
Below is a taste of the snarky sports/pop-culture talk you can expect from the show, sans the whole "grid" thing, which we're dropping in full on Thursday. (Make sure to weigh in on the topic by voting in our poll at the bottom of the page.)
How soon will the NBA feature advertisements on uniforms?
