Uganda, Chinese Taipei Set The Bar For Sportsmanship In LLWS
It's always been my opinion that Little League Baseball is a kids' game, and playing before 30,000 people with multiple TV cameras is unnatural and really pretty greedy. But every once in a while you get a moment that makes the whole bitter stew at least edible.
Taiwan beat Uganda 5-0 in an elimination game on Monday, and this happened: Uganda's Joshua Olara took out Taiwan's second baseman, who might have been half his size, on a hard slide into second base. Concerned that might have squashed his tiny opponent, Olara checked on him and gave him a hug.

Then, following the game, the post-game handshakes were replaced by a lovefest.

Taiwan lost to Mexico today, 11-1, and that game featured some classic good sportsmanship as well. So, for today anyway, nicely done. Now can we do something to get rid of the rodent mascot?
