Worst. Cycling. Crash. Ever.
Automobiles and bicycles have been mortal enemies since human beings started paving roads, which makes sense, because they're both kind of shitty. While cars are busy destroying the planet with noxious fumes from burning fossil fuels, cyclists are recklessly buzzing around our cities with a massive sense of entitlement and little regard for things like pedestrians, cars, other cyclists or rules, generally. They don't get along. Never have, never will. Nor should they.
In what we can only assume was an ill-fated attempt to give motorists a taste of their own medicine, Tour of Utah rider Matt Brammeier t-boned a tour car carrying bicycles on a steep turn Sunday afternoon. (Or maybe he just lost control while barreling down a hill, who knows.)
Rock beats scissors. Scissors beats paper. Car beats bicycle -- so it's not surprising Brammeier fractured his ribs, pelvis and bruised a lung in the crash. He's alright insofar as he's not paralyzed, but he's definitely looking at an extended hospital stay.
