The Dallas Mavericks could get a huge boost on Monday night, as Kristaps Porzingis was officially listed as questionable for the Mavs tilt against the New Orleans Pelicans, as Marc Stein reported. Porzingis has yet to suit up this season due to a knee ailment.
Porzingis is an integral part of the Mavs on both ends of the court. This season, the Mavs offensive metrics have taken a hit across the board with Porzingis out. Most notably, field goals, field goal attempts and rebounds have all suffered without their star power forward in the lineup. Offensive rebounds and blocks are where the Mavs are missing Porzingis the most, as they’ve seen decreases by 25.2% and 17.4%, respectively, relative to last year’s metrics. Dallas has been treading water early in this season, and have been buoyed primarily by Luka Doncic, who is averaging 26.6/9.3/8.3 through eight games.
Although Porzingis’ participation is far from a sure thing, his status being upgraded from “out” to “questionable” is a welcome sign for Mavs fans. Keep your eye on FanDuel Sportsbook for wagering options for Monday night’s tilt.
