The Dallas Mavericks have been moonlighting as an average team this season. We know Luka Doncic is the team’s heart and soul, and he’s often the best player on the floor from the time that he steps on to the court. Against the Bulls on Sunday, Doncic finished with 36 points, 16 rebounds, 15 assists, and the Mavericks still managed to lose the game. That has to be a concern if you’re a Mavericks fan moving forward particularly when the star player is essentially doing his best to drag his team across the finish line.
Dallas only scored 101 points in the game, which means Doncic either scored or assisted on more than 50% of the scoring opportunities. You have to wonder what the other players are doing when they’re on the court. Doncic’s performance was clearly above average, and yet the Mavericks lost by 16 points.
What happens when Doncic has a below-average game?
If there is something amiss or broken in Dallas, the Mavericks could be a team to look to fade as the season progresses, but it would be worthwhile to consider backing Doncic in the props market.
