Colorado Avalanche vs. Vegas Golden Knights News, Analysis, and Picks
We would be remiss if we didn’t include the NHL Outdoors game in our betting guide. And there are a few metrics to consider ahead of this one.
Colorado comes into this one, having been outplayed in four straight games. They have posted an expected goals-for percentage below 50.0% and been out-chanced in high-danger opportunities in all four. The Avs have collected points in three of four, though, going 2-1-1 thanks to Philipp Grubauer.
This will be the third of four straight meetings between these teams. Vegas has created a lot of chances but hasn’t been able to finish. The Golden Knights have managed 65 scoring chances, 28 of which came from high-danger areas, but only has three goals through two games. With the offensive weapons they have in their lineup, they should buck that trend.
Vegas has been the superior team through two games and should get back in the win column today. With the amount of offense they are generating, expect them to crack Grubauer and score a few more goals. They won’t need a massive increase in output with the way Marc-Andre Fleury is playing. Golden Knights +102 is positive expected value.
Another trend worth noting, seven of the 11 Stadium Series games since 2014 have gone over 5.5 goals. This is a short total with two impactful offenses. Over 5.5 is the bet to make.

Montreal Canadiens vs. Toronto Maple Leafs News, Analysis, and Picks
The Toronto Maple Leafs have shown their chops early this season, which has propelled them to the top of the NHL North Division standings, but the Montreal Canadiens shouldn’t be underdogs on home-ice.
The Habs are among the best at generating offense at home. They average 34.6 shots, 33.3 scoring chances, and 13.6 high-danger chances. They have out-chanced their opponents in five of seven home games and out-possessed them in six of seven.
Toronto has been on an impressive run, going 6-1-1 over their last eight, but there are metrics to support that their luck may run out. The Leafs have built up a 1.059 PDO over that eight-game span, bringing their season-long number to 1.033, the third-highest in the league. Consider also that six of those eight games came against the bottom two teams in their division.
Scheduling-wise, the Habs also hold a big advantage. This will be Montreal’s first game in a week but will be the Leafs’ fourth game in six nights.
Montreal will be fresh and ready for the spotlight in the nationally televised Hockey Night in Canada matchup, and there’s value in backing the Habs at plus-money in this one. Habs moneyline is the play.
