Week 6 College Football Best Bets
Week 5 featured a 3-1 best bets record, which now takes our record to 7-3 for the season heading into Week 6 with many intriguing college football matchups. Let’s look at some of the best bets for the week, with all odds being brought to us by our friends at FanDuel.
#14 Tennessee Volunteers at #3 Georgia Bulldogs
Odds: Bulldogs -12.5, Over/Under 43.5
If somebody told you that the Tennessee Volunteers have the longest winning streak in the SEC currently at eight games, what would you say? Well, that’s the case as the Vols will put that streak on the line this Saturday when they travel to Athens to take on the Georgia Bulldogs.
It will be no easy task as UGA is coming off an impressive three-touchdown win over Auburn in which the Bulldog defense completely shut down the Tiger offense to the tune of 39 yards rushing on 22 attempts. The weather will wreak havoc on this game as the remnants of Hurricane Delta will be moving through the area with a 70 percent chance of rain with gusts of wind close to 40 mph.
If Tennessee can establish the run similarly to their first couple of games where they averaged over 180 yards, they can keep this game close and cover. They have had success in the past as the away team in this matchup as they have covered in six of their last eight trips to Athens, and don’t forget Georgia could be looking past this game as the big matchup with Alabama awaits them next week.
Best Bets: Tennessee +12.5
Florida State Seminoles at #5 Notre Dame Fighting Irish
Odds: Fighting Irish -20.5, Over/Under 51.5
Two weeks ago, Head Coach Brian Kelly gave a pep talk to his team in which he said, “We’re not letting them score any points. We want a shutout, I’m tired of being the nice guy.” He wasn’t joking as the Irish not only shut out South Florida but even went for it on fourth down up 45-0 late in the fourth quarter. It sounds like a coach and a team determined to destroy anything in their path during this 2020 season.
Next up are the Florida State Seminoles, a team that just two weeks ago allowed over 500 yards of offense to the Miami Hurricanes en route to a 52-10 loss. Notre Dame is coming off a bye week where you can be sure they studied plenty of game tape, and Ian Book is salivating at the chance to carve up this Florida State defense. FSU has been one of the worst teams in all of college football the past couple of years in covering the spread as they are just 5-15-1 in their last 21 games out. Expect Notre Dame to win and win big.
Best Bet: Notre Dame -21.5
#7 Miami Hurricanes at #1 Clemson Tigers
Odds: Tigers -14.5, Over/Under 62.5
These two teams have placed twice since 2015, with Clemson winning both matchups by a combined score of 96-3, including the worst loss in Hurricane history when the Tigers won 58-0. Fast forward to 2020, and the Miami Hurricanes have won their first three games, have risen all the way to a No. 7 ranking, and come into this game with a lot of momentum.
This game features two of the best quarterbacks in the game with Trevor Lawrence of Clemson and D ‘Eriq King of Miami while also showcasing two of the best offenses in college football with both teams ranking in the top 11 in terms of total yards gained. Expect a lot of points and an exhilarating game between these two teams.
Best Bet: Over 62.5
