Rafael Nadal and Simona Halep Lead the Pack in Odds to Win the 2020 French Open
The 2020 French Open is the final Grand Slam of the season and the opening round kicks off on Sept. 27. Traditionally played in May, the tournament’s dates were chnaged due to coronavirus concerns, but the world’s premier clay-court tournament is now set to begin.
Let’s take a look at the odds on who is favored to take home the 2020 French Open title this year.
2020 French Open Men’s Odds
The men’s side of the tournament is led by tennis veterans Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic. With odds set at +110 for Nadal, he is going for his record 13th French Open title. Known as the “King of Clay”, Nadal is fresh and ready to uphold his reputation.
On the other hand, Njokovic posts the next highest odds set at +210 coming off his controversial exit at the U.S. Open. Looking for redemption, Djokovic is capable of pulling off a small upset and coming away with the title. Rounding out the top five in odds are recent U.S. Open champion Dominic Thiem (+480), Stefanos Tsitsipas (+4200) and Danil Medvedev (+4800).
2020 French Open Women’s Odds
In search of her second French Open title, Simona Halep is the odds-on favorite to win it at +270. Halep has played in two clay tournaments since the 2020 restart and she has won them both. Her recent experience and found success should help her in competing for a title she won back in 2018.
Following Halep in the odds are Garbine Muguruza (+600), Victoria Azarenka (+1200), Serena Williams (+1400) and Elina Svitolina (+1800). Several big names are missing this tournament on the women’s side as defending French Open champion and current No. 1 Ashleigh Barty will not play due to the pandemic and recent U.S. Open champion Naomi Osaka is out with a lingering hamstring injury.
French Open qualifying rounds are currently underway and coverage of the opening round will start on Sunday, September 27.
