THE FINAL 4 IS HERE PLUS SOME NBA PLAYS FOR SATURDAY
Since there’s not much college basketball left, let’s soak it up as much as possible. There are only two games on Saturday which means it’s going to be very hard to separate from anyone else playing. Plus, it’s these teams’ last games so the chance for sleepers is minimal with all of the best players getting max minutes.
If you get Trey Burke on your squad, you’re going to have to get a lot of cheaper players because his value is so high. This isn’t like NBA where you can get a $3,000 player (at DraftKings.com) and he’ll get you 20 points. Starting at about $3,900 and lower, the choices for viable players is very small. With the way Michael Carter-Williams has been playing, he is cheaper than Burke, yet could easily post the same kind of numbers.
Since there’s only one center that is usable, everyone is going to have Gorgui Dieng on their team and there’s no way around it. He’s basically a must. Unfortunately, that leaves us with just over $5,000 per player at this point which is going to be very difficult to operate with.
Luke Hancock ($4,200) has been playing better in the tournament and may get more time with Kevin Ware out, especially if Peyton Siva or Russ Smith gets into foul trouble. Fred Van Vleet is another cheap option that has picked up his game lately. I’ll take a gamble on Baye Keita ($3,100) as his time might increase so he can contain Mitch McGary on the inside. Cleanthony Early ($7,100) is a matchup problem for anyone and James Southerland ($7,200) has an advantage with his size and shot. Another choice can be made between Ron Baker ($5,900) and Nik Stauskas ($5,800). Both are bigger players that can shoot. Then you can throw in Chane Behanan to complete your forwards.
More players to consider include Russ Smith, Peyton Siva and Mitch McGary.
And since there’s still some NBA going on today, here are some options to look at for the professional league.
Greg Monroe, C, Pistons (at MIN)
$7,500 at DraftKings.com
For around the same value you can get Ersan Ilyasova and Nikola Pekovic. You can’t go wrong picking two of those guys. I would go Ilyasova who’s at home against the lowly Raptors. Monroe has picked up his game lately and gets the edge over Pekovic because he can dish the ball as well.
Corey Brewer, G, Nuggets (vs. HOU)
$4,000 at DraftKings.com
With Danilo Gallinari out, Brewer got more minutes last time out and got 34 Fantasy Points. For his small price, he’s going to be a great value.
Other smart options include Ricky Rubio, Damien Wilkins, Mike Miller and Jonas Jerebko. This game is about value and that’s what all those players can provide.
