TONY CINGRANI FACES THE MARLINS IN HIS FIRST MLB START
The NBA regular season is done which means I’ll be focusing a little bit more on baseball. Of course, once the playoffs start I will back for some basketball.
I like diving in the bargain bin in Daily games because no matter what, you need some bargain players on your squad, that’s just how it goes with a salary cap. Keep in mind when you’re setting your lineup for Thursday, there are a lot of different Daily games that have early and night games separated.
Carlos Villanueva, SP, Cubs (vs. TEX)
$5,000 at DraftKings.com
When Justin Verlander is $13,000, it's almost a given that you can't spend much on your other pitcher and Villanueva fits the bill. He’ll get to face the Rangers who don’t have that great of bats this year. Plus, Villanueva has started the season awesome with only 1 ER in 13 innings pitched. Alexi Ogando is mid-range option that should be a good play going against the Cubs.
Jhonny Peralta, SS, Tigers (at SEA)
$2,800 at DK
Peralta has been a consistent hitter to start the year which is why he’s batting over .300 at the moment. His price doesn’t make a whole lot of sense and will although Hisashi Iwakuma has started pretty strong, the Tigers will be the best lineup he’s had to face. A lot of the Tigers are relatively cheap today, mainly due to Iwakuma. This isn’t Felix Hernandez, though, Detroit will get some runs.
Ruben Tejada and Marlon Byrd, Mets (at COL)
Most players in this game are really expensive because there’s going to be plenty of runs in this game. Tejada and Byrd are really cheap mainly because they are spot starts. Keep an eye on lineups and if these guys are in, give them a go.
Tony Cingrani, SP, Reds (vs. MIA)
$5,000 at DK
This guy will be on a lot of people’s radars because he’s so cheap. He’s pitched very well in the minors so far and will be taking Johnny Cueto’s spot in the rotation for the time being. I mean, the Marlins have scored a league low 32 runs this year so you can’t go wrong with Cingrani. Jon Lester is dealing at the moment faces the Indians.
Garrett Jones, 1B/OF, Pirates (vs. ATL)
$4,200 at DK
Neither one of the pitchers in this game is dominant which means we’ll have some scoring. Jones usually sits against lefties which means he’ll likely be starting in this one. While Jones doesn’t bring a lot of power, he’s been a consistent hitter early on.
Paul Konerko, 1B, White Sox (at TOR)
$4,600 at DK
Konerko is currently on a nine-game hitting streak and gets the face the knuckler R.A. Dickey. Dickey got off to a bad start, but turned things around last time out against the Royals. If there’s one guy on the White Sox roster that can hit Dickey, it’s Pauly.
