Cordarrelle Patterson is worth a look in preseason DFS Saturday
It's the second full weekend of preseason NFL football, and there are eight exhibition games Saturday, Aug. 16, including one after contest - the Green Bay Packers-St. Louis Rams game at 4pm ET. That afternoon game will likely NOT be included by most Daily Fantasy providers, so we will not have any suggestions from that contest.
In addition, be sure to check out NFL Red Zone, as they have a special preview Saturday night. That will come in very handy with all seven evening games going on simultaneously by 8:30pm ET. Enjoy the night!
4:00pm - Green Bay at St. Louis (NFL Network)
7:00pm - Baltimore at Dallas (NFL Network)
(DraftDay.com salaries in parentheses) (all times ET)
Rashad Jennings, RB, N.Y. Giants ($8450 at Indianapolis): Jennings is expected to serve as the team's No. 1 tailback, and he might see more than the five carries he had in last week's preseason game against Pittsburgh.
Cordarrelle Patterson, WR, Minnesota ($8600 vs Arizona): Patterson might not have a Justin Hunter-like night, but he could have several grabs before calling it a night. He had three grabs for 38 yards in the preseason opener, and he'll be on the field for a while Saturday trying to get the best out of QBs Matt Cassel and Teddy Bridgewater.
John Carlson, TE, Arizona ($5000 at Minnesota): Carlson has ascended to the top of the team's depth chart, especially with Jake Ballard out of the picture. Look for Carlson to have a handful of targets, working in concert with QB Carson Palmer in the first half.
Falcons defense ($5000 at Houston): The Texans were terrible and mistake-prone last weekend in the desert in Arizona. They will be much better, but the Falcons D should still be opportunistic against Ryan Fitzpatrick and company.
Mike Glennon, QB, Tampa Bay ($5000 vs Miami): Glennon looked pretty sharp in a reserve role in last weekend's preseason opener in Jacksonville. He threw for 140 yards and a score, and has had an exemplary attitude despite losing his starting gig when the team signed QB Josh McCown in the offseason. Glennon should see plenty of reps off the bench.
EJ Manuel, QB, Buffalo ($5000 at Pittsburgh): Manuel worked behind a Swiss-cheese offensive line this week, with the Pittsburgh Steelers dominating them in joint practices. Manuel might be running for his life in this one. However, he should see plenty of reps, too, and he will be the best Daily Fantasy option at this price level.
Jerick McKinnon, RB, Minnesota ($5000 vs Arizona): McKinnon had 12 carries in last weekend's preseason opener against Oakland, and the coaching staff is certain to give him a long look in this game as they try to figure out who the No. 3 running back will be.
Andre Williams, RB, N.Y. Giants ($5000 at Indianapolis): The rookie out of Boston College might see a solid amount of reps behind Jennings, especially since Peyton Hillis will not be on the field. Williams will the team's short-yardage back, and he might have a score or two should the Giants find their way into the red zone.
