SO YOU WANT A BIG-TICKET ITEM?
Zach McAllister, SP, Cleveland ($10800 vs MIN): McAllister heads into Monday's game against the division rival Twins with a 2-0 record and 1.32 ERA in two starts at Progressive Field this season. The Indians are heavy favorites, and McAllister could be a moderately priced Daily Fantasy option who could well exceed his salary expectations.
Jeff Samardzija, SP, Chicago Cubs ($16250 vs CHW): It's time for that annual Windy City interleague series at Wrigley Field, and it will be a gusty night, with a strong wind blowing straight in from center field. That will help Samardzija keep the ball in the yard. The Cubs are playing a lot better lately, and they should do just enough to give Samardzija a win to open the week.
Giancarlo Stanton, OF, Miami ($11550 vs NYM): The Marlins continue their homestand, and that's good news for Stanton. He is hitting just .200 on the road with a .665 OPS, but he is hitting .342 with seven of his 10 homers and 29 of his 36 RBI this season at Marlins Park. And, for what it's worth, he is 7-for-18 (.389) with two homers and four RBI with a 1.151 OPS in his career against New York Mets SP Jon Niese.
Nolan Arenado, 3B, Colorado ($8550 vs TEX): Arenado has three extra-base hits over his past two games, as he shows no signs of slowing down. He has a career-high 24-game hitting streak entering play Monday, and that's just two short of a franchise record. However, his Daily Fantasy salary continues to be fairly reasonable, although it is creeping up slightly.
Juan Lagares, OF, N.Y. Mets ($8050 at MIA):Lagares pushed his hitting streak to a baker's dozen with a three-hit game Sunday in Denver. He'll try to push that streak to 14 games in Monday's series opener in Miami against SP Nathan Eovaldi. And don't get too carried away with such a limited batter vs pitcher history, but Lagares is 3-for-3 with a double and two RBI against Eovaldi.
Brandon Moss, 1B, Oakland ($8250 vs SEA): Moss is a left-handed power hitter facing a right-handed pitcher with a jetstream out to the right-center field power alley. Moss is hitting .262 with four doubles, three homers and 18 RBI wth a .774 OPS vs RHP this season.
J.D. Martinez, OF, Detroit ($6750 vs HOU): Martinez has started two of the past four games, and he could get another nod in Monday's series opener against his former team, the Houston Astros. He has a low price tag and some power upside.
