SO YOU WANT A BIG TICKET ITEM?
Teddy Bridgewater, QB, Louisville ($9500 vs MIA): Bridgewater, who is originally from South Florida, will look to tear apart a Miami passing defense prone to the big play. The Hurricanes ranked 73rd in the nation against the pass, giving up 233.8 yards per game. They also gave up 417.8 yards per game overall, 81st in the country. Look for Bridgewater and friends to post big offensive totals in the QB's collegiate finale.
Paul James, RB, Rutgers ($8300 vs ND): The Scarlet Knights should try to pound the ball against a Notre Dame rush defense which yielded 175.3 yards per game, 76th in the nation. James posted three 100-yard games this season, and he has six rushing TDs over his past four outings.
If you spend big up top, you're going to need some fillers to bring down your average per player salary. Check out these steals from the bargain bin:
TJ Jones, WR, Notre Dame ($7200 vs RUT): Jones rolled up touchdown grabs in eight of the past nine games, and he had 95 or more receiving yards in five of the past seven. Rutgers can't stop anyone through the air, so Jones is a great addition to most rosters.
Troy Niklas, TE, Notre Dame ($4800 vs RUT): If you need a tight end, Niklas definitely needs to be on your radar. Rutgers was horrid against the pass, giving up 311.4 yards per game. That ranked 122nd in the country against the pass, or third-worst in the nation. Niklas will get free early and often.
Tommy Rees, QB, Notre Dame ($6800 vs RUT): As mentioned, the Scarlet Knights are putrid against the pass, and that will serve Rees well in his college swan song.
Fitzgerald Toussaint, RB, Michigan ($7100 vs KST): With the Wolverines using freshman Shane Morris at QB in place of the injured Devin Gardner (toe), the Wolverines are likely to try and pound the ball more on the ground. That bodes well for Toussaint, who is likely to see his fair share of carries.
DaVaris Daniels, WR, Notre Dame ($5400 vs RUT): Daniels was a key contributor down the stretch for the Irish, finishing with a touchdown grab in each of his final three games. He posted 11 grabs for 186 yards in the final two outings of the season, and comes with a salary cap friendly price tag.
Shane Morris, QB, Michigan ($4500 vs KST): Hey, if you want a deep bargain, Morris will be the starting signal caller for the Wolverines. He is likely to struggle, but you can't get starting QBs at this cut rate very often.
Phillip Dorsett, WR, Miami, FL ($4500 vs LOU): Dorsett is likely going to see an increase in targets with WR Herb Waters (undisclosed) doubtful to play in the Russell Athletic Bowl.
Clive Walford, TE, Miami, FL ($3000 vs LOU): Walford was a clutch contributor, at least early in the season. Look for him to be involved in the passing game as a safety valve very frequently. He is someone QB Stephen Morris ($7700) especially scans the field for when he needs sure hands on third down. The TE position isn't that deep, so don't spend too much money there. Walford could surprise and well exceed expectations.
Michigan QB Devin Gardner (toe) is OUT for the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl, so not only should he be avoided (since some sites do not have any injury designation to let you know), but his absence also brings down the Fantasy value of TE Devin Funchess ($5000) and WR Jeremy Gallon ($8500).
Miami, FL WR Herb Waters (undisclosed) has been on crutches this week due to an undisclosed injury, and he is doubtful to play. Avoid that potential hole in your lineup.
