SO YOU WANT A BIG TICKET ITEM?
DeMarcus Cousins, C, Sacramento ($20592 vs PHI): It's amazing what kind of motivation a player can have in a contract year. Cousins has been playing out of his mind recently, going for 35.5 or more Fantasy points in nine of his past 10 games, and 12 of the past 14. And tonight he'll be matched up against the league's worst defensive club, as the 76ers allow an abysmal 111.2 points per game. Load up on Kings tonight, as it is going to be a very enjoyable Fantasy ride.
If you spend big up top, you're going to need some fillers to bring down your average per player salary. Check out these steals from the bargain bin:
James Johnson, F, Memphis ($13928 at PHO): Johnson continues to put up solid Fantasy statistics since coming on board in Memphis, going for at least 21.5 Fantasy points in each of his past five games, and a total of 68.75 Fantasy points over his past two. Phoenix has started to see their defense slip lately, and they've now allowed 100.5 points per game. It should be another fruitful night for Johnson and his Fantasy owners.
Isaiah Thomas, G, Sacramento ($16596 vs PHI): Thomas has been playing really well lately. Unfortunately for daily Fantasy owners, his salary has shot up significantly in the past couple of weeks. Still, Thomas has at least 28.25 Fantasy points in 13 of his past 15 games, including each of his past five. Against the defensively challenged Sixers, it should be another bountiful night.
Ben McLemore, G, Sacramento ($5085 vs PHI): McLemore's performance at Houston on NYE was encouraging, as he went for 13 points, four rebounds, three assists and a pair of 3-pointers, finishing with 18.5 Fantasy points. It was his first double-digit point total since putting up 20 in Miami Dec. 20. The Rockets are a poor defensive team, and the 76ers are even worse. At this price level, the rookie out of Kansas is worth a flier against a bad Philadelphia D.
Paul Pierce, F, Brooklyn ($8956 at OKC): 'The Truth' has struggled a bit finding his groove in his first year with the Nets, coming off the bench at times, starting in others. Lately he has been a solid Fantasy play, going for 20.5 or more Fantasy points in three straight outings, and five of the past seven. Pierce is priced well below his potential, making him a nice sleeper.
Mirza Teletovic, F, Brooklyn ($7899 at OKC): Teletovic's shot abandoned him last time out, as he struggled to hit just four of his nine field goal attempts for 12 points in 30 minutes in San Antonio. Still, against a solid defensive club for the second straight game (he faced Indiana before that), it was a decent effort. He has 20 or more Fantasy points in three of his past four games, and four of the past six. If he is on with his 3-point shooting, he easily pays for himself at this low salary level.
Beno Udrih, G, New York ($9196 at SA): Udrih was limited to 21 minutes last time out at Toronto, posting just seven Fantasy points. He should see more playing time in this one, as G Raymond Felton (groin) is unlikely to play. However, Udrih has competition for minutes with G Toure' Murry ($10033). The Wichita State product went for 11 points, six assists and three rebounds for 24.25 Fantasy points last time out. Still, Udrih is cheaper, and has been doing it on a more consistent basis.
Tyler Zeller, C, Cleveland ($6047 vs ORL): With C Andrew Bynum suspended, Zeller will likely see plenty of run going forward. The Z Man is capable of putting up 20 or more Fantasy points if he gets starter-type minutes, and he is worth a look at this ultra-low price level. His inclusion will allow you to load up with a pair of high-priced options.
